He became Prime Minister in 1830 and his monument stands at the top of Grey Street in Newcastle. The shoreline is just 400 metres away on a stunning coastal stretch designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest where you can enjoy spectacular views of Dunstanburgh Castle, interesting bird life and wild flowers on a walk to Craster or Alnmouth.
