The Space:
Nestled in the 500-year-old historic Spanish colonial city of Old San Juan, Villa Serena is the ideal basecamp to explore Old San Juan history, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. The villa has 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and a recently renovated kitchen. You will love the combination of old-world colonial design and new world amenities such as air conditioning throughout the villa, an updated kitchen, wifi, TV, and modern decor. The location is ideal for those looking to be close to the action in Old San Juan, located less than two blocks from the busy nightlife and restaurants of Calle San Sebastian and a short walk from El Morro Spanish fort. The villa comfortably sleeps 2 adults in the bedroom's queen bed. There is a coin washer and dryer in the building in case you need to do some laundry during your stay.
LIVING AREAS
As soon as you enter the villa you are welcomed by an open concept layout encompassing the kitchen, dining room, and living room. The high ceilings are an iconic design feature of the colonial architecture Old San Juan is famous for.
There is a 4 person dining room directly beside the renovated kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with an oven, stovetop, microwave, fridge, and everything you would need for an extended stay. The living room has a large and comfortable sofa and a flat-screen TV. There is air conditioning throughout the apartment.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
Villa Serena has one bedroom that comfortably sleeps 2 adults. The bedroom has a queen bed, air conditioning, and access to a full bathroom. The bedroom is rather small but is well appointed for a good night's sleep.
KITCHEN
Villa Serena's kitchen is comfortable and has modern cabinets and quartz countertops. You and your group will surely spend time socializing and cooking in this beautiful kitchen. The kitchen has a coffee maker, oven, stovetop, microwave, fridge, and more. We include enough bounty, trash bags, and dish soap for guests to comfortably start their stay.
LOCATION
Staying in Old San Juan is a truly unique experience filled with charm and character. From Villa Serena you can comfortably walk anywhere within Old San Juan. The apartment is located on one of the quieter streets but still steps away from all the action. We recommend taking a cab from the airport and using Uber or taxi while you stay at Old San Juan. Renting a car is not necessary unless you are planning on road tripping. This is a truly walkable location with everything you need a short walk away. The apartment does not include parking. Nonetheless, there are convenient parking lots close to the apartment.
There are many things to do in the surrounding areas, here are some of our favorites, all within walking distance:
Explore the El Morro Fort. There are daily tours of the fort and the large green areas have spectacular ocean views. Take a tour, have a picnic, and fly a kite. This is a must-do.
Explore the iconic Calle San Sebastian nightlife. There is a large assortment of bars on this strip which is a favorite among locals on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Breakfast at “La Bombonera”. This is a Puerto Rican landmark well known for its locally inspired breakfast and pastries.
Savor Stuffed Avocado. Healthy and "trendy" spot where you can create your own avocado bowl.
Take a stroll around “Paseo La Princesa”, a waterfront walkway which you can start off at El Morro and finish of the walk with a rum tasting at Princesa Gastrobar at the end of the trail.
GETTING AROUND
This property does not include parking. If staying within the general San Juan/Metro area, we recommend moving around via Uber. If you decide to rent a car, there are various paid parking garages around Old San Juan - pricing varies as some charge by the hour and others have a flat rate.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
We strongly recommend that all guests purchase travel insurance, especially during the peak months of Hurricane Season, which are July to October. Travel insurance is inexpensive and will reimburse travelers for most expenses associated with canceling travel outside of the cancellation window; however, this will depend on what the coverage purchased covers. Make sure to review and understand the options before purchase. Disclaimer: we are not associated with any travel insurance companies.
AMENITIES
West Indies strives to deliver top-notch service and amenities to guarantee our guests feel at home while visiting our properties. All of our properties are outfitted with freshly laundered bed linens and towels. We provide 2 bath towels per guest and 1 beachtowel per guest. Our properties typically include at least 2 beach chairs and an ice cooler.
West Indies provides the disposable amenities necessary to get your vacation off to a comfortable start. These amenities include 1 set of hotel size soaps and shampoos per bathroom, 3 garbage bags, 1 rollof paper towel, 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, 1 dish soap, 1 dish sponge, and a small amount of laundry detergent. We do not provide unlimited disposable amenities. It is your responsibility to review what is included in the property and stock with whatever else may be needed for the duration of your stay.
HOUSE RULES
Check-in time is at 4:00 pm
Check-out time is at 11:00 am
NO SMOKING: Smoking is strictly prohibited. A smoking fee of $500 will be charged if violated.
NO PETS:No pets are allowed at any time. A $300 fine will be charged if violated and you will be expelled from the property.
The host will not pay for a hotel, vacation rental, or transportation expenses incurred because of an interruption in water or electrical service. If water or electricity is interrupted for more than 3 hours, guests have the option of canceling their reservation and requesting a refund for the nights not used. Under no circumstances will we refund consumed nights.
All bookings are contingent on signing a short term rental agreement that will be sent via email. It must be signed within 48 hours of booking or before entering the property, whichever happens first.
Maximum occupancy of 2 adults/children at all times. This includes visitors.
Max. occupancy is strictly enforced and exceeding it may result in immediate cancellation of booking or being expelled from the property.
Towels and linens must only be used for their intended purpose. Do not stain them with food, grease or any other substance. Do not use towels to clean up any mess. Stained towels/linens will be charged.
Do not hang towels from the windows. A $100 fine may be applied if you break this rule.
