This Spanish-inspired Casona (Big House) on the north shore of Vieques is the ‘new kid on the block’ of high-end rentals. This house is a landmark on the area since it sits elegantly on top of a 1-acre lot as the great dame of Bo. Martineau. Looking up from the road what stand out are the arches, the long and spacious balcony, the wide open green spaces, and the multi level dignified structure that makes up Casona Martineau.
The house was exquisitely remodeled recently by a couple in love with Vieques. They combined the old style design with modern features. There is a huge fully outfitted "cook's kitchen", a large-screen plasma TV, Apple TV, Sonos music system around the house, DVD player, air conditioned bedrooms, hi-speed wireless internet. They have also added custom-made art from local artists, original paintings, and local crafts from around Vieques thus reflecting their interest in world craftwork and a comfortable,casual island lifestyle.
The four suites are beautifully assembled with high end mattresses, linens, and pillows and the bathrooms have been remodeled with the latest modern fixtures and stone-covered open showers. The ample Master suite hosts a wide soaking tub with views of the ocean. The main room is made up of towering wooden ceilings making it airy, open, and ideal for people to gather around.
The wide balcony accommodates a reclaimed wood dining table that sits 8, a grill, and comfy rocking chairs perfect for a morning coffee and/or sunset cocktail.
The grounds are widewith a variety of tropical trees (mangoes, lemons, and red flamboyan). Beach towels, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, and thermoses are provided if you do decide toleaveyour private paradiseto visit one of the many nearbysandy Vieques beaches.
